On July 4th, 2005, Karla Homolka was released from prison after being charged with two counts of manslaughter and serving twelve years in prison. Upon her release, she was still considered a threat to society, so a judge banned her from contacting the families of Kristen French or Leslie Mahaffy and Paul Bernardo. She was also banned from talking to other violent criminals. Homolka wants "more breathing room to start a normal life."
In 2007, Karla was rumoured to have been dating Luka Magnotta, the infamous "body parts killer". It is unclear whether or not this is true. One blog that contained only a single entry post claimed that Homolka and Magnotta were living together in the Caribbean. No other sources have backed this up, and if it was true, it has ended since then. A lot of people closer to the crimes do not believe this to be true.
Karla is currently married with three kids. She is living on an isolated island in the Caribbean, which has been confirmed when journalist Paula Todd tracked her down. She has since changed her name.
